Head to the Hills, the Hill Country Quilt Guild of Kerrville, Texas!

This March, I was honored to share my love of Mixed Media Techniques for your Quilting and Sewing Projects with the Hill Country Quilter's Guild, in Kerrville, Texas.

There was about 112 members in attendance, eager to learn the different ways to use mixed media products to enhance their quilting and sewing projects.

It was such fun to demonstrate the techniques and share how I have used them in my projects.  Then the next day, I conducted a workshop, "Fall"-ing in Love with Thread Sketching and Thread Painting, using my original pattern.

The workshop participants used thread sketching and painting techniques, with my helpful "training wheels" to create this fun wall hanging.

Participants really enjoyed the process and the feedback from them was great!

They were a fabulous guild to work with and I really enjoyed my visit to Texas

If you know of a guild or shop that would love to have me give a presentation or a workshop have them contact me through my website at www.LindaBrattenCreations.com.

The "Fall"-ing in Love with Thread Sketching and Thread Painting pattern will soon be available on my website.

May your bobbins be full!-Linda Bratten

Say, "Hello", to Brenda "BJ" Faulconer-Sandusky of Sew Crazy For You!

Sewing and Quilting has introduced me to some wonderful individuals that keep inspiring me. Fortunately, I have found many to be very giving when it comes to sharing what they know about their talents, and for this I am very appreciative.

I would like to introduce to you Brenda "BJ" Faulconer-Sandusky of Sew Crazy For You!

I met her through my Facebook Group, Linda B Creative where she shared this lovely crazy quilted piece that makes me think of beautiful autumn days.

"Country Autumn" by BJ Faulconer-Sandusky

So I reached out to find out more about her and her work, and I was not disappointed.

BJ has been a crazy quilter since 1997! She teaches Crazy Quilting classes, and has won ribbons at Art shows and the Idaho State Fair.

She is a cover girl in the Crazy Quilt Quarterly Magazine.

"Country Autumn" by BJ Faulconer-Sandusky

It turns out that this piece, "Country Autumn" was a tutorial that she did for the  Crazy Quilt Quarterly Magazine.

It was an article to demonstrate how to use Shirbori Ribbon on crazy quilts.

Shibori Ribbon is a silk ribbon dyed usually with multi-colors. The center of the picture is an old post card of her mother-in-law, a Currier and Ives picture. She scanned and printed the postcard on fabric, used it as the center, and crazy quilted around it. She calls this piece in the article, "Country Autumn".

She is currently working on another tutorial for the same magazine that will come out in January.
BJ  said that any of these magazines can be ordered with links above, as it is a print on demand and always available.

BJ is currently participating in the Sharon Boggon, 2020 Challenge, which is a quilt of your choice, but to be finished by the end of 2020, incorporating 2,020 items, fabrics and embellishments, used uniquely once...repeats can't count.  Sounds challenging for sure, but here is the link for those who would like to join BJ in this challenge, here is the link 2020 Challenge .

BJ's business is called Sew Crazy For You. She shares her projects on her blog, Sew Crazy For You.

She currently has a post up about how she prints on fabric for her pieces.

BJ also shares her work on her Flickr account.

Notice what caught my eye when I visited the site.

Any guesses as to why??

If you need to contact her she can be reached by email at Greenfields2@msn.com.  BJ can also be found on Facebook , private messenger her to contact her or become friends. Her page has a featured album that is open to the public, for the Gospel in the Stars that she is currently working on.

She is also a member of the Crazy Quilt Divas, Crazy Quilt International, and other Facebook Groups.

It has been fun looking at BJ's crazy quilts, they are works of art.  I do admire those who create by hand.  In fact, I invite you to check out my Pinterest board, Going Crazy for more inspiration.

Feel free to follow any and all of my boards.  Be sure to join us on the Linda B Creative Facebook Group to be inspired by other creative individuals like BJ!

Being inspired, Linda
