Feathers Sew Along Hosted by Alison Glass

What do you do to stay creative in the studio?  I find that challenging myself to try something new is a good start.  Another motivator for me is a deadline.   Can anyone relate??

So, to kick off 2022, I have jumped in and decided to participate in the Feathers Sew Along.

I am excited to participate since I have always been attracted to the Feathers quilt by Nydia Kehnle and Alison Glass. I have not made many modern quilts, but I am interested after taking an improvisational piecing class this summer. I have also challenged myself to use fabrics from my stash. This will assist me with a stash goal I have this year.

Finally, each week participants have a piecing goal to keep you on track to complete the quilt by February 25th. It might be a stretch as I have added several new virtual classes to my calendar this year, but deadlines can be motivators!

Here is my color planning sheet and some of the fabrics that I plan to use. I have decided to work with a color pallet that focuses on peacock colors.  That is probably no surprise to some of you who know me well.

I am leaning towards a black for the main fabric, but a dark blue has also caught my eye.  Which would you use?

Off to make some final color choices and get the foundation paper piecing templates printed.
