Happy Quiltober-Pumpkin Spice Quilt Along Update

Happy Quiltober!  To celebrate quilting in October I am hosting a Pumpkin Spice quilt-along in my Linda B Creative Facebook Group.

The great news is that it is not too late to join in!  Just ask to join and answer a few questions.  Since this can be a seasonal wall hanging, I am planning to leave the pattern and video instructions up in the group a bit longer.

This is a great opportunity to learn some of my favorite free-motion quilting motifs and how to use my favorite mixed media product, fabric/textile paints.

This week I will be sharing how I bind my quilts using a decorative stitch on my sewing machine.

It is like taking free classes from me!

If you enjoy what you are learning, consider taking these other  online classes from me. My affiliate links for my Craftsy/Bluprint class is: Exploring Natural Machine-Quilting Motifs.

My own online class is the Foundation Paper Pieced Pincushion Workshop.

They help support my creative work and let me share more fun projects like the Pumpkin Spice one with you.

Check out my other post about the Pumpkin Spice Quilt-Along:

Now I need to edit the final video!

Asking for a Friend...

This month was the last block of my Paper Snowflakes BOM.  Next month we will meet to finish adding setting blocks and completing the top.

So my friend, Erma W.  is asking for opinions on which fabric to use as the setting block fabrics. So let me share the choices.

Choice A

The first choice is a small hounds tooth print that reads a warm burnt orange from a distance.

This is what the fabric looks like close up, and it has all the colors of the block fabrics.

Choice B

Choice B is a maroon printed plaid.  It also contains the colors from the blocks.

So be sure to leave your choice, A or B,  in the comments below and I will let my friend know your response!

Thanks for the help!

Show and Tell Day for the Once Upon a Story Row Along!

I am so excited to share with you my finished Goldilocks and the Three Bears block for the Once Upon a Story Row Along.

In my first post I shared my thread sketching/painting technique.  I hope that you gave it a try!

Then in my next post I shared my hints and tips to add color to your blocks using Crayola Crayons.  This is my finished block using the crayon technique.

In the directions I also suggest that you could use Inktense pencils and blocks to add color.  I am still planning on posting a tutorial on that, so be sure to subscribe to my blog so you don't miss it.

This is my finished block using the Inktense pencils and blocks to add color.  I also used the Northcott Stonehenge Gradations fabrics to create this block.

A final suggestion to creating my block is to use the patterns for applique.  There are many ways to applique, but one of my favorites is to use my embroidery machine.

This is my block appliqued in the hoop with my Babylock Spirit embroidery machine. I also used the Northcott Stonehenge Gradations Fabrics to create the appliques and the block.

I digitized the blocks, and need to do some more tests before they will be available for purchase in my store.

Let me know which of the three is your favorite in the comments below!

Be sure to check out the other pattern designers show and tell posts.

Paypal fees are added to that amount to cover that fee.
Please note, every effort is made to protect the prizes. They go into a plastic bin when I receive them, and it is covered by an airtight cover. I have a dog in my home and I have a smoker in my home, so I do everything possible to protect the prizes.
Most companies are very good about getting prizes off to customers quickly also, but some companies are overseas, so please allow all sponsors a 2-week time period before you report to me that you still haven’t received your prize. When the company is overseas, it can take 6 weeks to 90 days for an item to also arrive.
