Seaside Adventure Row Along-Vitamin Sea the Starfish Block

I am so excited to be a part of the Seaside Adventure Row Along!

Let me introduce myself to those not familiar with my work.

I am Linda, the creative force behind Linda Bratten Creations where I design patterns, workbooks and make presentations.

While I embrace art quiltingI began my quilting journey making traditional quilts.

This is a small segment of My Fantasy Garden quilt.

I am a National Educator with Baby Lock where I get to share my love of the Baby Lock machines and their accessories with others.

Not only do I have my own free-motion quilting class, but I was also selected as one of their top eleven instructors in this fun class.

When I found out the theme of this year's Row Along I was very excited.  My favorite vacations have been taken on the beach.  Thus, I had plenty of inspiration to work with.

I gave a nod to my traditional roots by starting with an ocean wave block.

I re-designed it a bit to make it a foundation paper piecing block.

Then I added a fun applique to the center.

It was great to work with the Northcott Fabrics from their Stonehenge Collection to create this great block!

I love the way my Baby Lock sewing machine created this smooth satin applique.

The offer for this free pattern has expired.  Be sure to subscribe to my blog to get the next free offer!

If you enjoy my pattern, be sure to sign up for my free monthly newsletter, Linda B Creative where I share fun projects and creative inspiration!

Also join me on Thursdays at 1 pm Central, in my Linda Bratten Creations Facebook page for my weekly Facebook Lives!

Be sure to check out the other designers that are offering a free pattern this week.

Happy Quiltober-Pumpkin Spice Quilt Along Update

Happy Quiltober!  To celebrate quilting in October I am hosting a Pumpkin Spice quilt-along in my Linda B Creative Facebook Group.

The great news is that it is not too late to join in!  Just ask to join and answer a few questions.  Since this can be a seasonal wall hanging, I am planning to leave the pattern and video instructions up in the group a bit longer.

This is a great opportunity to learn some of my favorite free-motion quilting motifs and how to use my favorite mixed media product, fabric/textile paints.

This week I will be sharing how I bind my quilts using a decorative stitch on my sewing machine.

It is like taking free classes from me!

If you enjoy what you are learning, consider taking these other  online classes from me. My affiliate links for my Craftsy/Bluprint class is: Exploring Natural Machine-Quilting Motifs.

My own online class is the Foundation Paper Pieced Pincushion Workshop.

They help support my creative work and let me share more fun projects like the Pumpkin Spice one with you.

Check out my other post about the Pumpkin Spice Quilt-Along:

The Supply List

Now I need to edit the final video!

The Leaf and Curl Simple Border Free-Motion Quilting Design

I love the colors and shapes of Fall!  I often use them in the art quilts I create.  Today I am sharing a mini lesson on free-motion quilting on how to do my favorite small border design.

For those of you that have taken any of my free-motion quilting classes, including my Craftsy class,  Exploring Natural Machine-Quilting Motifs, you know that I use basic shapes to create my quilting motifs.

This is explained in detail in my online class, use this affiliate link to find out more about this class.

So using my "E and L" shapes and the "C and J" shapes you can create this quick and easy border.

Be sure to share what you create with this motif in my Facebook Group, Linda B Creative.

Excellent Really Enjoyed This Class  November 28, 2015

Linda's quilts are amazing - and so is this class. Starting with simple shapes and working up to beautiful nature inspired motifs, Linda makes you believe that you are in with a chance of achieving similar results. Well, we shall see - but it's been really fun trying!
A lovely class Linda, and you are a great tutor. Thank you.

Excellent I loved this class  November 5, 2015

Another way to quilt with hearts, leaves, vegetables, flowers, shells etc... These quilting designs can even be used as embroideries. All the technique is very easy to follow and open other doors for a different quilting way. Very interesting class. Thank you Linda.

Excellent Easy to understand, great details!  October 6, 2015

Love the way Linda starts out with basic shapes and then expands on them with more easy shapes to create designs that look difficult, but aren't! Also love the way she sketches them out before going to the machine, so it is really easy to follow along. I'm not a freestyle artist, but with Linda's class, these motifs seem attainable. Thanks, Linda!

Excellent Brilliant nature motifs  October 4, 2015

Denise S
Brilliant. This is one of the best of the many Craftsy classes I have taken. Linda uses variations on simple shapes to create detailed realistic looking nature motifs. Linda has the ability to break this down to a simple process and to execute the designs on a domestic sewing machine. A soothing well modulated voice, and a natural teaching style, including how to correct errors made this a pleasure to watch.

So don't delay!  Instructions on how to enter can be found here.  Thanks, Linda

My First Online Craftsy Class

This summer I was able to work with Craftsy to create a free-motion machine quilting class, which is soon to be released!  I thought you might be interested in seeing some behind the scenes photos of what my experience was like.

When I arrived on Wednesday, I was shown to my dressing room, and given a tour of where I would be filming.

Next I was off to meet with Danica, my Make-up Artist.  She has a great set of brushes that I envied!  I think she did a great job making me camera ready!

Then it was on to the set!

It was fun to learn what is involved in creating an online class, but I had a great team to guide me along.
It was super fun working with Chelsea, Jeff and Tony.

After taping, the evenings were mine to explore downtown Denver, CO.  I found some great places that I want to go back and visit again.

A special thanks to, Erin, Becky and Greg, who worked with me prior to filming to make the whole process go so smoothly.  It was a great experience and I would do it again!

In case you are not familiar with Craftsy, they are the fastest growing crafty community on the web with over 5 million members in over 200 countries worldwide.  With a Craftsy online class you can take it as many times as you want, whenever you want and access never expires.

Even though the class is not yet available online, I am able to give one class away for free.  So let’s get you started… click the link below the photo to sign up for an opportunity to win my Craftsy class!!
Unfortunately the drawing has ended, but click here to learn about my class!

Be sure to act quickly, your chance to enter will end at midnight, Central Standard Time, September 3, 2015.  The winner will be announced on my social media sites.
