Seaside Adventure Row Along-Vitamin Sea the Starfish Block

 I am so excited to be a part of the Seaside Adventure Row Along!  

Let me introduce myself to those not familiar with my work.   

I am Linda, the creative force behind Linda Bratten Creations where I design patterns, workbooks and make presentations.  

While I embrace art quilting, I began my quilting journey making traditional quilts.

This is a small segment of My Fantasy Garden quilt.

 I am a National Educator with Baby Lock where I get to share my love of the Baby Lock machines and their accessories with others.

I am also an online instructor with Craftsy. 

Not only do I have my own free-motion quilting class, but I was also selected as one of their top eleven instructors in this fun class.

When I found out the theme of this year's Row Along I was very excited.  My favorite vacations have been taken on the beach.  Thus, I had plenty of inspiration to work with.

I gave a nod to my traditional roots by starting with an ocean wave block. 

 I re-designed it a bit to make it a foundation paper piecing block. 

Then I added a fun applique to the center.

It was great to work with the Northcott Fabrics from their Stonehenge Collection to create this great block!

I love the way my Baby Lock sewing machine created this smooth satin applique.

Baby Lock Education Team

I am thrilled to share with you that I have recently accepted a position as a Baby Lock Educator.  What does that exactly mean?  Well I get to create with fantastic machines that I adore!  Working with other great and  creative individuals is also a plus.   Finally, I get to create fun projects that feature Baby Lock's  machine accessories and features.  

 I began teaching in my local Baby Lock dealership in 2008, that has given me plenty of time to explore the products and get to know the company.  Is it obvious that I fell in love with the Baby Lock line up of machines and products?

Look for more posts about my Triumph, Crescendo, and Sashiko machines in the future!
Off to start working with those wonderful machines!!!

Finding Inspiration During Trying Times

Hello Creatives!

These past few weeks have truly been trying times for many.  I found myself dealing with a variety of stressors that zapped my creative inspiration.  Sadly for a time, I didn't want to create anything.  

Fortunately, I have access to a wealth of inspiration via the internet, books and other creatives.  I have been enjoying a few professionals that have produced some great information. I found that even if I didn't want to create, taking in knowledge about techniques and processes motivated me to get back into my sewing studio. 

I thought that I would share some links for those who may be dealing with a similar creative block.

The Baby Lock website has a variety of resources.  I like to check out the projects that they offer in the Learn/Create tab.  Their website is https://babylock.com/.

If you are looking for some ruler/template quilting inspiration, Sew Steady has been sharing lots of Facebook live posts.  Their link is: https://www.facebook.com/SewSteady/.

If you are looking for serger inspiration, check out Deb Canham. She is a Baby Lock Educator and loves her sergers.  Her Facebook page is: https://www.facebook.com/sergersanity/  She has done several Facebook live presentations on serger feet and what you can do with them.
